Assignment #3

Good papers!

~Detail- One difference between an A and a C paper would be detail. I say this because if a paper lacks detail, it wont be as interesting to the reader. After all what writer doesn't want to grab the readers attention. My personal opinion is that when a writer states personal detail it stands out more. It stands out because the reader can really relate to what the writers trying to say. Detail is also important because it paints a picture in the readers head so they can imagine what the writer is saying. When writers add enough detail it makes it easier for the reader to relate to and therefore continue reading.

~Examples- Another difference between an A and a C paper are the examples. I say this because how can a writer get their point across with little to no examples. Examples may vary from facts you find on the internet or even personal examples. My writing involves a lot of examples because that's how I feel like I'd connect to the reader more. If writers didn't use examples their papers would be boring and most readers would lose interest quickly. Examples can also effect the reader because they can relate to some of your examples, especially the personal ones.

~Quality over quantity- The last reason that differentiates an A and a C paper would be quantity. I say this because no ones going to want to read a paper that's ten pages long and be reading the same thing on every page over and over again. My point is that if papers are short with a lot of detail, example, and get to the point there is no need to make it longer. This gets very boring on the readers side as well because the first thing a good reader does is look at how many pages the reading is before they read it. As a reader is reading and they have to read the same thing on every page they will lose interest.

~Easiest/hardest- The most easiest thing for to do while writing is adding a lot of detail that relates to my topic. I find topics that i can support with a lot of strong details. The hardest would most likely be giving examples because sometimes its hard relating a certain example back to a topic. For instance if I'm writing a paper about a certain book I read and I want to give a specific example from the book, It's going to take time to find one that fits in with my paper.

Assignment #2

~ I may write about my experience as a writer. I would tell my audience how i started low and progressed through the years to becoming an efficient writer. The main conflict in this narrative would be me trying to progress as a writer and the steps i took to get there. Some positives for this narrative topic would be that I'd have a lot of examples and details to write about. The fact that I've been writing since I was a kid (formally or informally) gives me a lot to write about. A con in writing a narrative this would be going off into tangents and giving detail that's not necessary to the paper. I'd be writing this essay to other writers to inform them how i grew and continue growing as a writer.

~ The next topic I may write about is an embarrassing eighth grade graduation moment. This would be a more humorous paper for my audience. I say this because although my embarrassing moment wasn't funny in my eyes, it was funny to all the others including my family. In this paper I'd write about how I fell during graduation and the after effects that took place. I would tell my audience how I had been so looking forward to graduation and how excited I was to walk across the stage. My biggest fear was falling and I can definitely say my fear became a reality that night. What I thought would be one of the most exciting nights of my life turned into a disaster within seconds. My main purpose for this essay would be to tell a funny story and to entertain my audience. The pros of this essay would be telling the audience a funny story and I would also have a lot of detail. Some of more challenging aspects of this essay would be organization. Due to the fact this story took place about five years ago its going to be a little tougher getting all the details in order.

~My last essay topic would be a moment In my life were I felt courageous and did something I'd never thought I'd do. I would explain in this essay how i went on my first roller coaster a couple years ago at six flags. I'm extremely terrified of heights so to say that i faced my fears an rode a roller coaster is a big deal for me. There would be many pros to a paper like this because I remember every moment of this particular day and I'd have more then enough detail and examples for my audience. Some of the cons would be adding too much detail (if possible). The main audience for this paper would most likely be everyone because of the fact that anyone would enjoy reading something like this. The purpose of this essay is to tell a story about how I faced my fears and how others should also overcome theirs.

Assignment #1

My personal opinion is that everyone should be a strong writer regardless of their professions later on in life. I'm taking English 101 for this exact reason. I want to learn how to become a strong more intelligent writer and be able to get my points across with strong examples. My high school teachers always told me, in order to acquire a decent job, you need to know how to write. We use writing everyday whether its formal or informal. We use writing (just how we discussed in class) In texts, emails, letters, blogs, Facebook, journals, reports twitter, reports, notes etc. Every year I've taken a writing class I've learned something new. Last semester in developmental writing, I learned how to use specific examples and evidence to support my claims. I also learned a lot of grammatical errors that I need to watch out for while I'm writing. I'm making my way up to be a chemistry major and I know you need to use ample amounts of examples and details in the lab write ups. Being a chemistry major requires a lot of attention to writing, so I'm hoping to gain the right techniques to better my future as a chem major. Neiu might require this course to create a better writing process for students. I say this because although students might think their on top of their game thinking their the best witters, this class can reassure them that everyone can be better writers and practice makes perfect.
